Why does cute underwear have to be sooo effin expensive!

I'm not great at clothes shopping at the mall. I usually stick to sale racks and even then, I wouldn't know what looks good on me. My clothes sport a rather safe and traditional style that you could find in Gap, and maybe even the flashier H&M. I'm not much of a shoe head either. I try to be, but I walk in shoes and my shoes aren't going to stop me from running around being a kid and dancing everywhere and anywhere. They get messed up pretty fast, so I don't like to get super attached to them. However the one thing I can be obsessively fashion picky about is UNDERWEAR. lol
Yup, I'm an Underwear Head.
But there is one thing stopping me for having the nicest line of underwear out of all my friends and that is... COST.

Fuuuuuuuudge underwear can be so expensive. Most range in from 20-30 dollars. Some of my favorites on my wishlist are around 40 bucks (darn those expensive Andrew Christians) >.< When I shop, I look for sales and the cheapest yet still nice underwears, trying to stay under $15. Not easy. Sure I can buy a 5 pack of tighty whities for less than one pair of undies that I'm looking at, but gosh those things aren't pretty. I like my underwear nice... really nice. Underwear are essentially the most fundamental piece of clothing in one's outfit, accenting some of the most precious body parts ^.^ So why not be picky with them. I am. Especially with the factors I look at...

1) Shape
How does it conform to the shape of the front package? Does it reveal too much? Does it outline too much? Does it look too baggy, not showing off anything? Does it just look messy there?
I like a clean front region with a nice shape. The key word is PERK. If the underwear flattens the goods too much, it isn't sexy. However, if it looks really baggy, hiding the goods in fabric folds, that isnt pretty either. The underwear should conform nicely in a clean fashion that makes the goods pop forward and lift it for aesthetics and support. I try to avoid anything that looks like it would be too tight in the wrong places, if you know what I mean.
How does the side and back of the underwear look? Does it hide the shape of one's body? Does it accentuate it? Does it look balanced? How are the width of the side straps?
This can make or break the underwear for me. It's one of the most important factors I look in an underwear... the back side. I want to show off my butt in its fullest. Even if I dont have the best butt in the world, I want my underwear to make it appear as if I do. How does it do that? The right curves and outlines in the right places. In briefs, coming too low on the sides may hide the shape of the butt, but sometimes it just depends on the fashion of how the underwear conforms in the back region. In boxer-briefs, the butt is best accentuated with proper contouring and piping. At the same time, the piping can look terrible.

2) Colors and Designs
Colors and designs also play a role in accentuating the body. Black tends to hide the shape more, however that fact can be used effectively as well. Sometimes I want to hide everything  except a particular curve or even maybe a design. White can be too revealing, acting as shear or showcase outlines too much. If you want this to happen, then go for the white. However I personally avoid white in the front area, for the most part. I tend to enjoy nice color combinations or a solid color that compliments my own skin color pleasantly. Red is best with white; Blue is best with black. Red/black and blue/white combinations work well too, but be careful to look at the outlining. The colors may fatten out too much. Red and black underwear looks best with small amounts of white to bring the red out to the fullest. Sometimes, I just go for bright colors that are okay against my caramel ish skin color. Sometimes I overlook the washed out colors, which looks amazing in real life, but easy to ignore online. Greys are sometimes more effective than black or white when used with bolder colors. And Sometimes white and black underwear are incredibly striking, as long at there isnt too much white in the front region (or if there is, it is a thicker material). Other colors I like: Olive, Purple, Green, Tan, Baby Blue, .
For designs, it really all just depends. Look at the placement and size of the design. If it is a design that cover the majority of the underwear like a print, pay attention to how it accentuates the shape of the body. Sometimes its just unflattering. Sometimes its utterly amazing. Also, many of the underwear have brand names written in the elastic bands. If this writing looks tacky or too big in the wrong way, then I won't look at the underwear twice.

3) Material
One of my best friends has these amazing Calvin Klein underwear that just feels heavenly. I think they are microfiber. With material, its all about comfort and a feel. Is it breathable? Or would it make the skin sweat or create odors? Is it stretchable? Would it scratch or pull with activity? Does it hold its shape with vigorous dancing? Does the material provide support? Is it difficult to wash? Does it break down easily? Usually there isn't too much problems when it comes to underwear, but sometimes the higher quality materials make the underwear that much better and so worth the price.

Its all about how the underwear compliments the body and how it feels on you. Any piece of clothing should be comfort and make you feel better, sexier. And there is probably nothing sexier than a nice piece of underwear on the right body.
